Programme Overview

Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistance (DOA) is a specialized paramedical programme designed to prepare students for careers in eye care services and ophthalmology. The programme provides comprehensive training in vision assessment, ophthalmic procedures, patient care, diagnostic techniques, and assistance in eye clinics and hospitals.

Students acquire the knowledge and practical skills required to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and managing eye disorders while gaining experience in the use of ophthalmic instruments and modern eye care technologies.

Course Duration

The duration of the course is 2 Years.

  • Part I (First Year)
  • Part II (Second Year)

Course Structure

The programme consists of two parts. Each part includes theoretical learning, practical training, and clinical exposure in ophthalmic care.

  • Part I (First Year) – Foundation studies and basic ophthalmic sciences.
  • Part II (Second Year) – Advanced ophthalmic procedures and clinical practice.
  • Each part consists of two examination papers.

Examination Pattern

Examinations are conducted at the end of Part I and Part II.

  • Written examinations.
  • Oral (Viva Voce) examinations.
  • Practical examinations.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in each subject is required for a pass.
